White Tower

Thessaloniki's most famous landmark of the city is White Tower because of its prominent location, long history (as a prison and torture chamber) and imposive architecture. The tower was built in 15th century in order to replace an older 12th century Byzantine fortification while it was later recontsructed by the Ottomans.Today the tower is open to the public and the visitors canenjoy the wonderful panoramic view from its highest level.

Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki

The Archaeological museum of Thessaloniki is one of the most beautiful and important museums of the city. the museum hosts a variety of Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine exhibits that will impress every visitor.The “Gold of the Macedon” and the exhibition called “Field House Garden Grave” are definitely some of the most interesting areas of the museum. In the South side of the museum there is a cafe available for all the visitors.

Museum of Byzantine Culture

The Museum of Byzantine Culture has hundreds of unique exhibits and artifacts throughout the entire Byzantine period are displayed in several different rooms.A café restaurant, a small amphitheater and a separate section that hosts outdoor exhibitions are some of the extra features available for the visitors.It is next to the Archaological Museum of Thessaloniki, so you can easily find it.

Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia Thrace

The Folklife and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia Trace is located in Vasilissis Olgas St. in a beautiful well preserved historic building built at the dawn of the 20th century knows as " Modiano Villa", as it was the residence of the banker Yiako Modiano and his family. The villa was also known as 'The old Governor’s Residence', because it was hosting each time the Commander of Macedonia and later on, the Minister of Northern Greece. It is one of the remaining samples of bourgeois residences in Eclectistic style, which were constructed in the eastern expansion of Thessaloniki by several wealthy citizens of various nationalities (Greeks, Hebrews, Turks, Armenians).
